Week 4 Learning Journal

Part One: Set Your Educational Goals Regarding my educational goals at CSUMB, I aim to earn my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a strong GPA. As I mentioned previously, I aspire to specialize in Cybersecurity and, hopefully, attend a reputable university that offers a respected Master’s degree program, such as the University of California, Berkeley. I also want to create projects to add to my GitHub portfolio. I also want to become proficient in languages such as Python, since it is commonly used, specifically in cybersecurity. Additionally, I want to pursue certifications that will help me stand out from others, like CompTIA Security+, to start. Obtaining the Certified Ethical Hacker certification will help me demonstrate my knowledge. I can picture myself obtaining all these certifications, degrees, and knowledge, and also adding my projects to my portfolio. Ultimately, I must stay on top of the constantly changing world to effectively adjust to any changes.  Par...

Week 3 Learning Journal Post

Part 1: Review and Reflect Learning Strategy This week, I decided to focus on the strategy of time management, which was one of the skills I had previously mentioned that I needed to improve on. I went over the required link for part 1. One of the ideas that stood up to me was to avoid multitasking. I do multitask a lot, for example, I do homework while I eat, or do homework while I use my phone in bed. It helped me that I created a weekly schedule with my plan for the week, from studying and working times, all the way to break times. I have found it quite helpful. I do not use social media unnecessarily anymore, wasting my time instead of being productive. I know this will help me focus better and manage my time throughout the day. Part 2: Weekly Readings and Ethics For this week we focused on ethics. Being ethical in computer science is more than not cheating. It is about being responsible. if I go into  cybersecurity, I will be dealing with sensitive information, so I have to b...

Part 1: Review and Reflect Learning Strategy My top 3 study skills, in which I believe I am good at, are thinking skills, getting the main idea, and extracting important details. Why do I say this?  Well, I think you develop thinking skills from experience. The article says that everyone has thinking skills, but not everyone uses them correctly. My response to this is that I cannot be scared of dead ends; I have to be scared of not thinking there is no way out. Identifying the main idea from anything is crucial, especially being around a high-paced environment. After 22 years, I believe I have learned to do a decent job when I have to figure out the central idea or concept. Meaning that I can focus on what is more relevant.  This goes hand in hand with extracting important details , good note taking is mentioned, I like to organize ideas on bullet points in a way that I organize what I hear from what I think. I believe I do a good job with that I am weak when it comes t...

My first post

I have learned so many things this week, starting from how to blog! As I reflect on my week, I can say that planning is crucial if I want to survive the upcoming years.  I have been placed on team 4 and am lucky enough to have my brother on my team. He makes sure that I deliver everything before the deadline. As I watched some videos that were assigned for the week, I am sure that communication is key with my team. We all bring our individual skills to the table and work together; we set Discord as our primary tool of communication.  I did a lot of reading, and I recall watching a few videos of a group project. Some students gathered around to try to plan, delegate tasks, and bring ideas to the table. It went bad, one student showed up late, and did not come prepared to the meeting, since he had asked for a pen. The other student who was leading the meeting did not want to listen to or respect his fellow classmate who came out with ideas, rejecting them right away. I am glad I...
